Dreaming of Living in the Country - A Must Have Checklist for You!

So you have just come back from a lovely Sunday drive in the country and you say to your beloved "I just know we'd be happier out here, surrounded by nature, sunshine and things would be calmer and less stressful for us and I am sure it would be a lot less expensive!"  Beloved hears "less stress and less expensive" and you are off on a whole new kind of adventure.

Quick Check List:

Have I always wanted to live in the country or is this a whim?

Will living farther from my place of work cause problems for my family?

Can I afford reliable transportation?

Am I learning based? - Well and septics, snow removal, post office delays, no amenities will all be a learning curve.

Does the idea of being in charge of my own water and "waste disposal" bother me?  Note it is not hard....just something different.

Would I give it a year to try it...?

Can I see myself driving up the driveway and being happy to be paying a mortgage "out here"?

Do I adapt well to change, because there is always change in the country?

Would I regret not trying it?

Then ask yourself, from the heart "will living in the country increase my enjoyment of life".  For myself, I moved 7 years ago and haven't looked back!  I am always willing to have a discussion to see if this kind of adventure might be for you.  Feel free to contact me to chat.

Happy (now),

Questions to ask when buying a condo

Imagining Living in a Condo - A Must Have Checklist for You!

It's been a stressful day at work and you arrive home and notice the grass needs mowing, the garden needs weeding and the mail is full of bills.  Oh great, the roof estimate is in and it is much higher than anticipated.  And then, just when you weren't even really thinking about making a change, your Realtor's newsletter is there with article on Condo's and the options for you dance before your eyes!  Bliss you think, that's what I want!

Quick Check List:

Will I really have more free time or will I have to work more to pay for a nice one?

How do I feel about paying a Condo Fee and what does it include?

Do I want to live in closer proximity to more people?

Would I like a townhouse style or a high rise?

Parking - how important is it and how convenient do I want it to be?

Could I or would I walk or more often take public transportation if I lived in a condo?

Do condo's have a lot of "rules" about how I will live?

Am I ready to downsize?

How much room do I feel I need to be comfortable?  Less or more than I have?

Would I miss the satisfaction of doing maintenance and improvements?

Would a condo be a better/worse investment than what my money is invested in?

How important is location to me and could I find/afford a condo to suit my lifestyle?

Will having less space cause much change and will I like the changes?

Would I gain a sense of freedom and make good use of it?

The desire for condominium living is growing rapidly for many reasons including reducing stress, wise investing and enhanced lifestyle.  With our growing and aging population, owning one for the purpose of renting it is becoming a popular choice.  I have many clients who have many different reasons for buying a condo and I am always willing to have a discussion to see if this kind of purchase might be for you.  Feel free to contact me to chat.

A condo could be for you!
